Jose Mourinho is seriously considering making Paul Pogba his permanent Manchester United captain.
That’s what the Daily Express are claiming in their gossip column, with the World Cup winner set to wear the arm-band when United take on Brighton this coming weekend.

The midfielder captained the Red Devils during their 2-1 opening day victory against Leicester City, with Pogba getting on the score-sheet from the penalty spot. It was a display of real class from the Frenchman, but his comments afterwards certainly left fans perplexed…
By making him the permanent captain, Mourinho feels it’d underline his importance to the club. Perhaps Pogba would feel more respected, which in turn, would turn that unhappiness into joy and pride.
He is a leader, there is no doubt about it. However, I’m unsure as to whether giving him the armband permanently after his latest comments sends out the right message. He’s blatantly defied his boss, yet is set to be rewarded?

I don’t think Antonio Valencia is the right man for the job so I’m all for giving the role to someone else. My leading candidates would be David de Gea and Romelu Lukaku. I’d probably go for the former. He’s been brilliant over the last few years despite his future constantly being up in the air.
