According to The Independent, the Portuguese manager is happy with the Spaniard recent performance and he has advised the club to extend his stay beyond this summer.

The former Southampton player has failed to live up to expectations in the outgoing season as he has made only 12 appearances from the start and the acquisition of Nemanja Matic further dashed his hope of getting regular first-team actions under the Portuguese manager.
The Serbian international has been a major player in the Red Devils since his move from Chelsea last season and that has pushed Herrera down the pecking order.
The British publication also reports that Mourinho seems to have changed his perspective towards the Spaniard’s style of play as was earlier reported that the former Chelsea manager accused Herrera of playing out of instruction.
The is getting more look-in from the tactician as he is beginning to start matches unlike the early part of the season when he hardly makes the team’s match-day squad list.

Herrera’s current contract expires by the close of the season and he might be awarded a new contract in the summer by the club’s hierarchy base on Mourinho’s instruction.
