The Belgian playmaker is Real Madrid’s top transfer target to revitalise their ageing attack.

But the 27-year-old, who was at the O2 Arena on Thursday evening for the yearly London NBA game, explained his situation for the first time by stating that his future is at Stamford Bridge.

‘Yes,’ Hazard said Mirror Football when questioned directly whether he plans to sign a new long-term contract with the reigning champions. ‘I think Thibaut first. Then I will sign.’

Hazard is supposed to be next to sign on the dotted line once keeper Thibaut Courtois has signed a new £200,000-a-week contract.

Notwithstanding Hazard having two years continuing on his current deal, the west London team do not want to face a comparable situation to Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal if Hazard’s contract was to be run down.

He is the star performance in Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side, and he has netted nine and assisted eight so far this term.
