Premier League side Chelsea confirmed their team for the UEFA Europa League this week and one midfielder surprisingly misses out. After a disappointing league campaign under Antonio Conte last term, Chelsea have been relegated to the Europa League this season. Although the competition might seem to small for a top level club like the Blues, they are tipped to be one of the favourites to take home the trophy at the end of the season.
Missing out on Champions League football won’t mean that they don’t take the Europa League seriously. The Blues will be looking to add whatever trophies they can to their cabinet and this competition won’t be any different.
The Sarri-managed club announced their squad for Europa League on Tuesday and former Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater has been excluded from it. The Englishman has not been able to establish himself as a regular first-team player since his arrival at the Stamford Bridge last summer.

Now with the arrival of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, it only meant that the 28-year-old went further down the pecking order of the midfielder that also consists of his former Leicester teammate N’Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
AUTHOR’S TAKE:
The English midfielder doesn’t seem to be in the plans of Sarri go forward and it would be better for Drinkwater to consider his options before it gets late. If he decides to move, he won’t find it difficult to find a new club.
