Sky Sports- Chelsea agree 1st summer signing with announcement scheduled to happen soon

Tuesday 29 May 2018

According to a report on Skysport claims, Chelsea have agreed on a deal for Maurizio Sarri to succeed Antonio Conte after reportedly offered €4m.

Sarri has been replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, but he’s still under contract until 2020, with a release clause which is valid until the end of this month.

Until he is released from that deal he cannot sign for another club, despite already having an agreement with the Blues.

Now the Corriere dello Sport is reporting that the Blues offered €4m to get Sarri, which was immediately rejected by the Partenopei.

The report further claims Chelsea have no intention of paying Sarri’s £7million (€8m) release clause, which expires on May 31.

Skysport understands this is in part because the Blues will need to pay £17.5m (€20m) in compensation if they decide to part ways with Conte, who lifted the FA this season.
