Chelsea starlet Ethan Ampadu has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a fractured ankle, report Devon Live.

Very few will have expected Ampadu to have been given as much game-time as he has this term. The Welshman put pen-to-paper with the Premier League champions in the summer of 2017, with many expecting him to either be shipped out on loan or join up with the development squad.

Ethan Ampadu was brilliant for Chelsea against AFC Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.

Instead, Ampadu has made seven appearances for Chelsea’s first-team this term, being fielded both in midfield and in defence. Conte clearly has faith in the 17-year-old, which is why news of his recently sustained ankle injury is bad news for the Italian.

Devon Live report that Ampadu suffered an ankle fracture during our UEFA Youth League victory over Real Madrid. As a result, he will miss the remainder of the season. He has also withdrawn from the Wales squad for Ryan Giggs’ first games in charge.

Get well soon, Ethan!
