If emerging reports making the rounds is anything to go by, then Chelsea have been dealt a huge blow in their quest to retain the services of Belgian shot stopper Thibaut Courtois, as he has agreed a deal in principle to join Real Madrid.

Courtois was offered a contract by the brass of Chelsea but he rebuffed it to fulfill his dream of returning to the La Liga to continue to his career. While Los blancos made David Dea Gea their prime target, Courtois has also be targeted as a replacement for Keylor Navas.

De Gea was dubbed as the perfect keeper to wear the gloves of Iker Casillas but Real Madrid failed in their bid to sign the Spaniard in the summer of 2016. According to Spanish publication Diario Gol, Courtois is now Madrid’s man and an agreement has been reached for the 25-yea-old to switch Stamford Bridge for the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer.

The report has claimed that Courtois misses his family and he wants to reunite with them in the Spanish Capital. However, he is still under contract with the Blues until 2019.

Despite recent report linking the shot stopper with a move away from the club, Conte has reiterated his desire to keep him at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “I don’t know about this issue.

“When you are in a great club and you trust in the project, you want to stay. I think the family is not a problem.”
