Antonio Conte has been desperate about the signing of a striker that will complement the efforts of Alvaro Morata upfront and Chelsea have been linked with the signing of several star players.
Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch and Ashley Barnes, have all emerged as potential targets for the Blues but they have remained only as target as no offers were made for them.
Meanwhile, Conte is unhappy with Mitchy Batshuayi who despite his strides, has failed to impress the Italian and is set for a loan move away from the club.
Chelsea had been in talks with Roma over a potential move for Dzeko and it appears that the star is edging closer to a Stamford Bridge move. According to the Sun, Chelsea and Roma have agreed a “basic fee” of £28m for the transfer of Dzeko.
Nonetheless, the stumbling block to the deal now is that Roma have asked that Chelsea pays an extra £5m in additional payments, as stated by the Report.
The director of football for Roma Monchi opined that they are willing to let Dzeko leave.
“Whatever will be will be. I work every day to have players suitable to replace our players, my job is always to strengthen my club.
“If [Dzeko] leaves Roma, we’ll buy another player.”
Dzeko may not even play second fiddle to Morata as it is given that he is a good striker. He has scored nine goals in the Seria A this term.
